Account score

Players can earn account points, which are permanent – they are not lost on death or even during server wipes. These points are designed to provide a sense of long-term RPG-style progression without disrupting the roguelike spirit of challenge. Account points can be used to purchase larger houses, expand storage space, unlock additional races and classes, and gain other benefits (more features coming soon). To check your current account point total, enter /time command.

How to Get Account Points

You earn your first 10 account points by leveling up your character. After that, additional points are granted through a mix of leveling and defeating unique monsters. However, gaining a point isn’t guaranteed – it’s a random event, and the more points you already have, the harder it becomes to get the next one. Higher-level characters and stronger unique monsters increase your chances of receiving a point. In short: keep progressing, keep fighting, and account points will come naturally over time as a reward for your achievements.

Bonus account points for Hardcore characters
Playing in Hardcore mode (without the Second Chance mechanic and other benefits) rewards you with extra account points at certain levels (depends on class and points number, eg 15, 25, 30, 35, 40, 45, 49 and 50). To create a hardcore character, open the options menu during character creation by pressing =, then set birth_hardcore to yes.

Level Requirements for Account Points
There are minimum character level requirements to prevent farming account points with low-level characters:

30+ account points: Character must be level 20+
50+ account points: Character must be level 25+
70+ account points: Character must be level 30+
100+ account points: Character must be level 35+

Characters below the required level threshold will not earn account points from regular unique monster kills or level-ups. This encourages players to progress with appropriately leveled characters rather than farming points with new characters.

Note: Special boss monsters (Sauron, Morgoth, Valar, etc.) are unaffected by these restrictions. Also you still get extra points for additional difficulty options

Account Score Milestone System (for veterans or returning players)
This reward system grants one-time bonuses for reaching high character levels. It’s designed for experienced players who push their progress to the limit — and especially supports veterans returning to the game after a break.

It works like this: the first time you reach a certain level, if your account points are below the milestone threshold, you’ll instantly receive enough points to match it.

  • Level 10: 5 account points
  • Level 15: 7 account points
  • Level 20: 10 account points (small house building enabled)
  • Level 30: 20 account points
  • Level 40: 30 account points (2-tile house building enabled)
  • Level 50: 50 account points (3-tile house building enabled)

Account points are not added on top of your existing total — they are adjusted up to the minimum value listed, but only when reaching each milestone level for the first time. If you already have equal or more — no bonus is given. Example:

  1. You created a character, earned 3 points, and died.
  2. You created a new character and reached level 10.
  3. The system checks: you have 3, but should have at least 5 — so it sets your total to 5.
Result: you have 5 points, not 8 — because points aren’t added up, they’re just set to the milestone minimum.

Note: Rewards are granted once per account based on your highest character level achieved.

Gold Rewards from Account Points

If you play in the default mode (i.e. not in Hardcore mode), your account points grant bonus gold each time your character gains a level. The amount of bonus gold depends on both your total account points and your character’s maximum level. Here are some example rewards:

  • 0 account points → 10 bonus gold
  • 10 account points → 36 bonus gold
  • 25 account points → 75 bonus gold
  • 50 account points → 140 bonus gold
  • 100 account points → 161 bonus gold
  • 200 account points → 167 bonus gold

The formula offers the best gold-per-point ratio for the first 50 points, with diminishing returns as your account point total increases. This reward system is optional – it’s disabled automatically if you play in Hardcore mode. It provides a sense of MMORPG-style progression and gives new characters a small economic boost, while preserving the roguelike spirit of tough, old-school gameplay.

Account Points for Housing

If you get 30-50-70 account points, you can build the smallest house for free (only the cost of the deed, with no additional spending); see “Houses” guide section.

(House Size there – it is not whole area, but only number of “floor” tiles)

Modes Bonuses

🔥 Hardcore Mode

Playing in Hardcore mode (without the Second Chance mechanic and other advantages) rewards you with additional account points at levels 20*, 30, 40, 50. Additionally, starting with the 100 points threshold – gaining account points by playing regular (non-Hardcore) characters is slowed down immensely. To create a hardcore character, open the options menu during character creation by pressing =, then set birth_hardcore to yes.

⚡ Turbo Mode

Playing in Turbo mode also rewards you with additional account points at levels 20*, 30, 40, 50. The point requirements are identical to Hardcore mode. To create a turbo character, set birth_turbo to yes during character creation.

⏰ Zeitnot Mode

Playing in Zeitnot mode rewards you with additional account points at levels 15**, 20*, 30, 35, 40, 45, 49, 50. To create a zeitnot character, set birth_zeitnot to yes during character creation.

🛡️ Ironman Mode

Playing in Ironman mode rewards you with additional account points at levels 20*, 30, 35, 40, 45, 49, 50. To create an ironman character, set birth_ironman to yes during character creation.

* For level 20, you will receive a bonus point only if your account score is below a certain threshold (depending on the class power level):

  • Power 3 (Strongest) – if score < 30: Warrior, Monk, Unbeliever, Shapechanger, Druid, Fighter, Knight
  • Power 2 (Strong) – if score < 50: Archer, Paladin, Rogue, Ranger, Blackguard, Hunter, Telepath, Battlemage, Hermit, Phaseblade, Inquisitor, Heretic, Cutthroat
  • Power 1 (Medium) – if score < 70: Shaman, Priest, Villager, Tamer, Traveller, Bard, Trader, Assassin, Cryokinetic, Scavenger
  • Power 0 (Weakest) – if score < 100: All remaining classes (e.g., Mage, Warlock, Sorcerer)

** For Zeitnot mode level 15, you will receive a bonus point only for medium/weak classes if your account score is below threshold:

  • Power 1 (Medium) – if score < 50
  • Power 0 (Weakest) – if score < 70

Important: The birth_deeptown option affects point awarding – if enabled, bonus point for getting level 20 are not awarded regardless of account score for all modes.

In other words, if you have more than the threshold account points for your class – upon reaching level 20, you won’t receive a bonus point for that mode (but you will receive one upon reaching level 30).

🗺️ Exploration Mode Bonus

If you play Exploration (no-deeptown mode) – you get additional account points at 30-35-40-45-49-50 levels.
